Our group needs to plan our challenge week about 5 months in advance. We need to plan out our travel, daily itinerary, accommodation, things to do in our destination, food, transport as well as the insurance. We have divided the job across our group and we worked hard to get our planning and bookings done before the summer break.
After extensive search of our challenge week destination we chose Phnom Penh as we think that it will be challenging yet fun and rewarding for us. Phnom Penh is the capital city of Cambodia.
There are over 2000 NGOs in Cambodia and it took us a while to choose one for our 5 days of service in Phnom Penh. In the end we chose to work with Sok Sabay which is a centre for mistreated children located in Phnom Penh. Sok Sabay do give propoer care for these kids and if you want to help sok sabay in any ways at all, please do contact us.
After our summer break, we didnt have much planning to do. We had a few meetings regarding administrative matters but most of our planning was done before the break. A week before the trip we had a very intense meeting to organize ourselves for the trip as well as to plan all the lessons we are teaching the children in Sok Sabay.
Our planning itself has been quite an experience and quite a challenge. But it is the whole purpose of challenge week!!
